T20 World Cup: Pakistan Hat-Trick Of Victories, One Step Away From The Semi-Finals | Pakistan Defeat Afghanistan After A Thrilling Contest

Pakistan completed a hat-trick of victories in the Super 12 stage match of Group 2 of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, defeating Afghanistan after a thrilling contest.

In the T20 World Cup, Pakistan defeated Afghanistan by 5 wickets after a thrilling match thanks to Asif Ali's aggressive batting.

In the Super 12 round match played in Dubai, Afghanistan won the toss and invited Pakistan to bowl.

When Shaheen Shah Afridi started bowling, the Afghan openers took a defensive stance against him.

Pakistan scored a crucial victory in the second over of the match and Emad Wasim moved the opening batsman Hazratullah Zazai.

Mohammad Shehzad bowled Shaheen but after one ball again made an easy catch to Babar Azam in the same attempt.

Pakistan soon got another wicket but the Pakistani fielders missed the chance to run out.

In the fifth over of the power play, Babar Azam bowled Haris Rauf who once again fulfilled the captain's confidence by catching Asghar Afghan on his own ball who scored 10 runs.

Harris Rauf also bowled the fastest ball of the tournament at 153 kmph (95 mph) in this over.

Hassan Ali, with the help of captain Babar Azam on the first ball of his spell, made Rehmanullah Garbaz, who scored 10 runs, move.

After losing four wickets, Najibullah Zadran and Karim Janat took the score to 64 but Emad Wasim got the wicket of Karim Janat on the first ball of the last over of his quota.

After losing five wickets, captain Mohammad Nabi came on the wicket and Afghanistan changed its strategy and started batting with restraint while Hassan Ali bowled the 12th over of the innings.

Najibullah Zadran hit a six to Shadab Khan but the Pakistani spinner returned to the match in the best possible manner and was caught by the wicket keeper on the next ball.

After taking six wickets for 76 runs, Gulbadin Naib came to support Mohammad Nabi and both the batsmen took charge of the team and formed a partnership of 71 runs for the seventh wicket to give their team access to a reasonable total.

In the 18th over of the innings, Afghan batsman Gulbuddin Naib took an aggressive approach against Hassan Ali and scored 21 runs in one over and then 15 runs in the next over of Haris Rauf.

Afghanistan scored 147 for 6 in the allotted overs, Mohammad scored 35 off 35 balls while Gulbuddin Naib scored 35 off 25 balls.

Afghanistan scored 54 runs in the last five overs without losing a wicket.

For Pakistan, Emad Wasim was the most successful bowler with two wickets while Hassan Ali, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf took one wicket each.

Earlier in the match, both Afghanistan and Pakistan retained the winner of the previous match.

Pakistan has a psychological advantage after winning the T20 World Cup against India and New Zealand.

Pakistan defeated strong rivals like India and New Zealand in their first two matches respectively while Afghanistan easily defeated Scotland in their first match.
