Tennis | Rafa Nadal Announces His Return For December

The Spaniard could return to competition at the end of this year, for the Abu Dhabi tournament. The Spanish tennis player finalizes his preparation with the Australian Open among the first goals.

Rafa Nadal could be back on the slopes sooner than expected. The Balearic tennis player announced last August that he was resigning from the current season to treat his left foot disease. But it seems that his return will be earlier than expected, specifically this December.

"My plan is to play Abu Dhabi in December and a tournament before playing the Australian Open. It is my goal and we are working hard to make it that way," Nadal explained in a ceremony with his sponsors, according to the AFP agency.

The Australian Grand Slam will be played between February 8 and 21 in Melbourne and the Spaniard hopes to be recovered by then. Last September, after several weeks without appearing publicly, Nadal published a video leaving a Barcelona hospital on crutches where he had undergone treatment for Müller-Weiss syndrome. Since then, the manacorí has   continued working on his recovery and has already shown images exercising on the slopes of his Academy in Mallorca.
