Lewandowski Travels To Munich To Explain Himself To His Former Bayern Players: "Now I Can Leave With A Clean Heart"

The Polish striker criticized the behavior of his former club on ESPN and said that there had been a lot of politics in the decision.

The Polish international Robert Lewandowski traveled to Munich, after his tour with Barcelona in the United States, apparently to "explain" himself with his former bosses and teammates from Bayern Munich for some controversial statements to an American media.

According to the popular newspaper 'Bild', Lewandowski continued his trip to Munich, after finishing the tour with his new club, and will visit Bayern Munich to say goodbye properly. "I am in Munich, he will come for sure. I still cannot understand what he has been saying in recent days," Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidzic told that outlet.

"Everything is fine. I met everyone and now I can leave with a clean heart. Last week was a bit complicated for everyone, that happens sometimes in football. But I will never forget the eight years here," Lewandowski told Sky TV.

In an interview with an American media, Lewandowski criticized the behavior of his former club and said that there had been a lot of "politics" in that decision. The Polish international left the German champion after a long struggle to go to Barcelona.

"What happened in the last few weeks before I left Barcelona was also political. The club tried to find a fight to justify my sale because maybe it was difficult to explain to the fans," he assured in an interview with ESPN.

Lewandowski stated that "many lies" were told about him and was convinced that, despite this, he continued to have the support of the German fans. The Pole, who will turn 34 in a few days, signed for Barcelona in exchange for nearly 45 million euros and left Bayern after eight seasons in which he won as many league titles and a Champions League.
